The Egidius College
We are quite well informed about the practice of singing music from choirbooks in the 16th century. The basic choir of St. Peter’s Church usually consisted of eight singers and a couple of choirboys, but the size of the group of singers could vary, depending on the canonical hour and the occasion.
In order to do full justice to the repertoire and to ensure broad tonal variety, the quartet has engaged a team of extra singers who will operate under the name Egidius College. The College consists of singers with whom the quartet has worked before or who were selected by audition. The team is made up of 4 sopranos, 2 altos, 2 haute-contres (counter-tenors), 3 to 4 tenors, 3 baritones, 2 basses and 2 profondo basses (deep basses).
